Six Decades of
Accessible Education
Sri Venkateswara University was established in 1954 in Tirupati to cater to the educational needs and aspirations of the people of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. Today it is the second-largest university in Andhra Pradesh, with five constituent colleges, 52 departments and 88 programmes.
The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) traces its origins to the Institute of Correspondence Courses (ICC) established in 1972 — one of the earliest distance education initiatives in South India. Over five decades it evolved through three transformations: ICC (1972) → Directorate of Distance Education (1994) → CDOE (2024), in line with NEP 2020 and UGC-DEB regulations.
All programmes offered through CDOE are UGC-DEB approved and fully equivalent to regular university degrees — recognised for employment, higher studies and government services across India. The university holds NAAC A+ accreditation valid from March 2023.
Sri Venkateswara University Founded
Established in Tirupati to serve the educational needs of the Rayalaseema region — beginning with one college and six departments.
Institute of Correspondence Courses (ICC)
CDOE’s founding predecessor — extending the frontiers of academic excellence beyond the Tirupati campus to learners across the region.
Directorate of Distance Education (DDE)
ICC upgraded to a full Directorate of Distance Education, expanding the range of UG and PG programmes and learner reach.

Sri Venkateswara University receives NAAC A+ Grade — confirming the quality of education across all departments and programmes including distance learning.

Centre for Distance & Online Education (CDOE)
DDE renamed and reconstituted as CDOE as per NEP 2020 and UGC-DEB (ODL & Online Programmes) Regulations 2020 — embracing digital and online learning modes.

All programmes are UGC-DEB approved and equivalent to regular degrees. Fees shown are indicative annual figures. No entrance exam required for most programmes — admission is merit-based.

How to Apply
Admission to SVU CDOE programmes is merit-based with no entrance exam required for most UG and PG courses. The process is entirely online. Admissions for the July 2025 session have closed; the 2026 session is expected to open shortly — check the official SVU website for dates.
For MBA, candidates must have an ICET score. All other programmes require only qualifying marks — a minimum of 45% in 10+2 for UG and 50% in graduation for PG programmes. There is no upper age limit.

Fill Online Application
Visit the SVU official portal (svuniversity.edu.in) when admissions open. Complete the online form and select your programme and specialisation.
Upload Documents
Upload required documents: marksheets, transfer certificate, photograph, identity proof and category certificate (if applicable).
Pay Application Fee
Pay the application fee online — ₹200 for UG, ₹500 for PG. Payment accepted via QR scanner, card, RTGS and net banking.
Merit List & Confirmation
A merit list is published after the deadline. Selected candidates confirm admission by completing fee payment and enrollment within the stipulated date.
Receive Study Materials
Enrolled students receive self-learning materials. Contact Programme Classes (CPC) are also conducted periodically to support distance learners.
